Da Krewe du Roux was founded in 2017 to bring the original spirit, festivities, and traditions of Mardi Gras to the city of Galveston, Texas. What started as a handful of friends with Louisiana roots has grown into a krewe of more than 80 members who throw the Island’s most spirited Carnival events.
A roux is the base of every great gumbo — flour and fat, patience and care. It’s where everything good begins. That’s how we see our krewe: the base from which community, celebration, and charity all grow. Every bead we throw and ticket we sell stirs the pot for the causes we serve.
We’re a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Proceeds from every event benefit El Mina Shriners of Galveston and The Ronald McDonald House — over $120,000 donated since our founding.

Membership grew to more than 60 members, and the organization donated $5,000 to the Ronald McDonald House to upgrade guest rooms with technology, helping families stay connected with their loved ones during the COVID-19 pandemic.

As a founder of Da Krewe there are many things to be proud of! Not only money raised but some of the most dedicated individuals around. Without them we don’t make it a decade! Here’s to another 10 years!
Cindy is one of 3 original founding members, and shaped the framework of what the Krewe is today. She now lives in north Texas with her husband Jeff, and they still participate in Krewe events any chance they get.
Mysty has held multiple officer and leadership roles since joining the Krewe as a Founding Forty member with her husband Jared.
Danielle is one of 3 original founding members, and shaped the framework of what the Krewe is today. She currently lives in Louisiana with her family while supporting the officers remotely throughout the year.
I love being a part of the Krewe. Lauren & I are part of the Founding Forty members and have held many officer roles over the years. The people and the mission are what makes this Krewe stand apart from the rest. Cluckin’ for A Cause!
I am also a former two time King and an original “Founding Forty” member. I live with my wife and previous Queen du Roux Barbara in League City.
I have been a dedicated member since the Krewe’s inception as one of the “Founding Forty.” Throughout my years of service, I’ve held leadership roles including Vice President and Chicken Run Captain. I am proud to be part of the Krewe and to support its charitable efforts benefiting Ronald McDonald House Galveston and El Mina Shriners.
I'm proud to be a member of Da Krewe du Roux, where I have the opportunity to celebrate Louisiana traditions while supporting the Ronald McDonald House of Galveston and the El Mina Shriners as they serve children and families throughout the Galveston region. As a teacher with Clear Creek ISD, I first fell in love with the Krewe by inviting its members to speak with my students over the years. Their passion for community service, leadership, and giving back inspired both my students and me. Although I officially joined Da Krewe du Roux two years ago, I've proudly participated in Krewe events since 2019.
Today, I have the honor of serving as the Krewe's Secretary, a role that means so much to me. I cherish being part of an organization that truly feels like family while working alongside dedicated members who are committed to preserving Louisiana traditions and making a positive impact in our community. Together, we strive to strengthen our Krewe, support our nonprofit partners, and help provide hope and opportunities for children and families throughout the Galveston area. Being part of Da Krewe du Roux is more than volunteering—it's about building lifelong friendships, serving others with compassion, and leaving a lasting legacy of generosity, leadership, and community spirit.
I love this Krewe because it’s a tradition‑rich family whose spirit makes every moment feel bigger than life. I do what I do because bringing people together, lifting them up, and supporting the charities that strengthen our community keeps our Mardi Gras magic thriving.
I'm proud to be a member of Da Krewe du Roux, where I have the opportunity to celebrate the rich Mardi Gras traditions and unique culture of my Louisiana roots throughout the Galveston Bay region. As a lifelong advocate and servant leader, I currently serve as a Member-at-Large on the Krewe's Board of Directors, Vice President of the BTR Caring for Kids Foundation, Program Manager for Leadership Pasadena (Texas), and Managing Director of Earnest Efforts PM, where I help nonprofit organizations and community initiatives grow and thrive. My husband, James, and I were honored to be among Da Krewe du Roux's "First Forty" founding members, and we're proud to call the Clear Lake area home.
I am a native Louisianan and have always enjoyed helping others. When I had the opportunity to join this Krewe I went all in. I am currently Vice President. Also served as Member at Large for 3 years and have chaired/co-chaired the Chicken Run for several years. My most honored role was Queen DuRoux MMXXV(2025). I am extremely proud of what we do as a Krewe in supporting both El Mina Shriners and the Ronald McDonald House of Galveston.
Da Krewe du Roux means the world to me. I've had the privilege of serving in several leadership roles and helping build the foundation of an organization that I believe will continue bringing people together for years to come—creating lasting friendships, giving back to our community, and having a great time while doing it.
